G.J. Gardner Homes will present a check for $10,510 to Homes For Our Troops this Saturday, October 22 at 11:00 am in Elizabeth, Colorado at a ceremony honoring Army Sergeant Latseen Benson. Sergeant Benson was on his second deployment in November of 2005 in Kirkuk, Iraq when and IED exploded and left him a double amputee. He will be presented with a newly constructed home at no cost to him and his family. The home was designed and specially adapted for Benson’s needs. Benson’s wife Jessica and son Gage will be moving into the home with SGT Benson. In addition to donating some labor and construction services to the project, G.J. Gardner Homes will be donating over $10,000 to Homes For Our Troops at the ceremony. The home in Elizabeth is just one of three homes that the two organizations are partnering to build. The second home is located in Hanford, CA and is nearing completion. The third home in Corona, CA will break ground in December of 2011. “It is an honor to be involved in these projects. We feel privileged be able to give back to those individuals, and their families, who sacrifice so much protecting our freedom.” – Scott Moberg, Owner and Operator, G.J. Gardner Homes – Parker Construction of the home began in June 2011 and was coordinated by G.J. Gardner Homes – Parker, who partnered with Homes For Our Troops, the community of Elizabeth, and countless volunteers to build a home for the Benson family. The 2,600-square-foot single-level specially adapted home features large door openings, wide hallways, hard surfaced floors, roll-under work areas in the kitchen, a master bath with large roll-in shower, and more. The home will provide SGT Benson maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently. SGT Benson is excited to move and start a new chapter in Colorado with Jessica and Gage. “Homes for Our Troops means such a great deal to me and my family. They’re giving us the opportunity to start a life in a home that allows me do everything,” said SGT Benson. “This home will let me live an independent life, and really enjoy quality time with my family”
